What it involves
Bilateral orchiectomy is the removal of both testicles. It eliminates the main source of testosterone, which allows you to stop hormone blockers and, in many cases, adjust your oestrogen dose.
It can be a surgery in itself, for those who do not want full genital surgery, or a prior step. If you are considering a vaginoplasty or vulvoplasty in the future, we plan it so that the skin needed for that surgery is preserved.
How is orchiectomy performed?
It is a short operation, 45 to 60 minutes, with a quick recovery.
