Indicated for small chests with good elasticity: tissue is removed through an incision around the areola, with minimal scarring.

Double incision with areola graft

The reference technique for medium and large chests: two horizontal incisions under the pectoral allow all excess skin to be removed and the areolas repositioned as free grafts in a masculine position. The scar follows the pectoral border.

Drains for 24-72 hours and a compression binder for 4-6 weeks. Office work in 1-2 weeks; chest exercise from 6 weeks.

We prescribe scar treatment (silicone, sun protection and massage) during the first year to optimise the final result.

Do I need to be on testosterone to have top surgery?

No, it is not a requirement. Mastectomy can be performed with or without testosterone; if you are on treatment, it usually does not need to be paused.

Will I keep nipple sensation?

With the peri-areolar technique it is largely preserved. With a free areola graft, erogenous sensation is lost and partially returns as tactile sensation over the months.

What will the scars look like?

With double incision they follow the lower line of the pectoral, where they are concealed by the anatomy itself and body hair. They mature and fade over 12-18 months.

Can I combine it with another surgery?

Yes; it is often combined with laparoscopic hysterectomy or pectoral definition liposculpture in the same operation.
